Children and Adult Education

Children

Preschool through Grade 1
Sunday Mornings 8:30am – 9:35am
Children in these classes enjoy learning Bible stories, seasonal activities to prepare for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Pentecost.

Elementary Grades 2 through 5
Sunday Mornings 9:35am – 10:55am
In addition to studying the tenets of the Catholic Faith and Scripture lessons, the children in these grades from the Junior Youth choir. This choir leads the singing at the Sunday Mass several times throughout the year.

Middle School Grades 6 though 8
         Middle School Youth Calendar
Sunday Mornings 9:35am – 10:55am
In these grades the curriculum focuses on Old Testament: God Calls People, Jesus the Way, the Truth and the Life, The Church Then and Now.

High School Grades 9 through 12
Sunday Morning 9:35am – 10:55am
Grade 9 – Pre-confirmation preparation
Grade 10 – Confirmation
Grades 11 & 12 – Scripture study related to contemporary issues. *This class, grades 11-12, also meets on Wednesday evenings 6:30pm – 7:30pm

SACRAMENTS:

Baptism: Parents expecting to baptize a child should attend a preparation class prior to the baptism. The classes are held the third (3rd) Sunday of each month at 9:35am in the conference room. Number to call to register for a session is 822-9125 ext. 13.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist: These sacrament are prepared for during classes on Sundays 8:30am – 10:55am. Reconciliation is celebrated in November and First Eucharist is celebrated at the Masses the first (1st) weekend of May.

Confirmation: Preparation for this sacrament begins in Grade 9 and Confirmation is received in Grade 10. The Confirmation is usually celebrated in late April.

Marriage: Couples intending to be married at Prince of Peace must meet with the priest six (6) months before the wedding date. Attendance at a preparation class is required. Call 822-9125 ext 13 to make arrangements.

Anointing of the Sick: The reception of this sacrament may be arranged by calling the Church Office 822-9125 ext. 13.

Adult Education

A variety of opportunities are provided for adults to grow in knowledge of the Catholic Faith and nurture their relationship with Jesus Christ.

• Sunday Mornings 9:35am – 10:45am Bible Study

• Wednesday Evenings 7:00pm – 8:00pm These programs combine speakers, discussion and faith sharing. Information about the topics, speakers, etc. is published in the weekend bulletin or click here for the current schedule.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
Wednesday Evenings 6:45pm – 8:00pm
These classes are for adults wishing to become or know more about the Catholic Faith. The classes begin in September and culminate with the Easter Vigil. For more information call 822-9125 ext. 12.
